Yoruba Group (ODI) Urges South West Senators To Vote For Ndume
As permutation continues on who would be the best choice for the 9th Assembly Senate Presidency, a group, Oduduwa Development Initiative (ODI) has called on all Senators from the South West across parties to support Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, saying his choice will serve Nigeria better.
The group, in a statement signed by its National President, Ambassador Akinyele Olasumbo, said the group’s decision was reached after serious scrutiny of all candidates in the race for the exalted position.
Olasumbo maintained that Senator Ali Ndume, one of the contestants, has acquired a wealth of experience that cannot be matched by any of the contestants.
According to him, “The expectation of the Nigerian people from the 9th Senate is very high. Thus, all hands must be on deck to enthrone a credible, impeccable and astute leadership in the Senate.
“The Oduduwa Development Initiative therefore endorses Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume for the office of the Senate President.
“The Yoruba development apex body urges all Yoruba sons and daughters in the Senate to support Senator Ali Ndume.”
He stated further the emergence of Ndume will make an enduring positive impact for socio-economic and political development of the country.
“The group further advised the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomole, to stop desecrating the integrity of Nigeria’s democracy by single handedly choosing a candidate for the Senate.
Olasumbo pointed out that the National Assembly should be given the benefit of doubt to elect the best among them to lead and ensure deepening of democratic governance.
“We condemn the action of the National Chairman of APC for unilaterally choosing Senator Ahmed Lawan, such imposition by the party leadership contravenes the right of equal justice for all Senators -elect,” he said.
