Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s relationship ‘is back on’ after being Divorced for 23 years
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are back together as a couple more than 20 years after they divorced.
According to reports, Prince Andrew is back in a relationship with his ex-wife, although not everyone in the royal family is happy about it.
Andrew and Fergie, both 59, divorced in 1996 but they kept living together while raising daughters Beatrice and Eugenie. They never remarried and they famously stayed the best of friends.
Last year Fergie famously said she and Andrew ‘never really left each other’ and are ‘the happiest divorced couple in the world.’
Last weekend, Fergie joined Prince Andrew after he completed a number of official royal visits overseas. The couple stayed in Bahrain on a private visit but were official guests of their host, the Bahrain Crown Prince.
It is the first royal visit by the Duchess of York in over 25 years and has been seen as proof that she is increasingly becoming part of The Firm again.
Friends of the couple say it is an open-secret that the pair are now ‘friends with benefits’ as neither is dating nor linked to anyone else.
According to Metro UK, royal sources said the previous barrier to them getting back together again was Prince Philip. The Queen’s husband was said to have been furious at Fergie after she was pictured having her toes sucked by businessman John Bryan. However, the Duke of Edinburgh is said to have mellowed and now simply ‘doesn’t care’ if Andrew and Fergie are officially reunited.
On her part, the Queen has always had a soft spot for Fergie and has invited her to Balmoral for the last few summers.
The only person who reportedly could prevent their reunion is Andrew's elder brother and heir to the throne - Prince Charles. Prince Charles is said to be adamantly opposed to Sarah becoming part of the royal family again. She took Princess Diana’s side during the acrimonious divorce with Prince Charles and he is said to be worried she will try to make money from her royal position.
A source told The Sun:
Charles is not OK with Fergie. He can’t stand her in reality.
He thinks she’s brought embarrassment to the Royal Family in the past and his relationship with his brother has been strained as a result.
They don’t get on personally. There’s so much baggage because he feels she sided with Diana over Camilla all those years ago.
The fear with her is she’ll never stop promoting herself and looking for ways to make money off her royal position.
Prince Andrew and Fergie's daughters are said to be very happy for them to rekindle their relationship. Prince William and Prince Harry are supportive of their cousins Beatrice and Eugenie and will have no issue in their Aunt becoming part of the family again.
