Land of no Birth Finally Records 57 Deliveries
Dove community tagged as the land of no birth which for decades has not recorded any new births because it is against their customs has recorded 57 births in its new clinic as it marks its first anniversary, MyNewsGh.com reports.
The notable farming community for ages per the custom and tradition of the people, prohibits the rearing of animals and giving birth on the land.
Through communal labour with support from the former roads minister, Joe Gidisu they started a clinic project in 2007 but got completed in 2018 through the effort of the former gender minister, Otiko Afisa Djaba and the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Central Tongu, Thomas Moore.
The MP for Central Tongu, Alexander Hotorwodze in recognition of the feet achieved has donated delivery beds, laboratory equipment and furnishing the facility to make health delivery conducive in order to serve the intended purpose.

The community still holds to its tradition but with the intervention of the clinic which is five minutes’ drive away, 57 expectant mothers delivered safely in the year 2019.
The physician assistant Mr Emmanuel Agu who doubles as the in charge of the facility disclosed to MyNewsGh.com “the clinic has delivered fifty-seven babies safely. We are faced with accommodation challenge for the staff”.
He laments the facility needs a pavilion and mental health unit to give care to the people as the numbers recorded keep surging.
“So far over one hundred mental health cases have been recorded, some treated and discharged with different conditions” he added.
He stated he’s in high anticipation the facility will become one of the best facilities in the Volta Region while Paramount chief of Dove, Torgbe Tsatsu Sakpleka III was happy mothers are giving birth at the clinic.
