Three-storey School Building Collapsed, 50 Children Rescued, Nine Dead




The building, situated at Massey Street at the Adeniji Adele area of Lagos Island caved in at about 9:45 am on Wednesday.
Authorities have rescued at least 50 children so far from a three-storey building which collapsed in the Itafaji area of Lagos Island.
According to Channels TV, emergency rescue agencies such as the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), as well as security personnel are on ground at the scene of the incident.
The police, army and National Security and Civil Defence Force, NSCDC, are also making contributions with rescue operations.
A social media reports states that a man is threatening to kill himself be ause he lot three kids in the Lagos collapsed building that happened in Ita-Faji Lagos Island.
The three storey building housed a school on the last floor and several apartments. About 41 persons were rescued alive yesterday and taken to a hospital for treatment. The number of dead is yet to be released.
Unfortunately for a man, he lost three kids on the incident. According to report, the kids just resumed school after two weeks of staying at home due to his inability to pay their school fees. The incident befell them when he finally paid the fees for their resumption.
