Kaduna Police have Arrested 172 Suspects off Electoral Offences
The Kaduna State Police Command on Friday said it arrested 172 suspects allegedly involved in various forms of malpractices during the just-concluded general elections in the state.
This was made known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo, on Friday.
The police listed the alleged offences to include: snatching and destroying of electoral materials, alteration of elections results, impersonation and possession of domestic election tags.

Also, the offences included possession of multiple permanent and temporary voter cards, 99,466 pieces of temper evident envelopes for used ballot papers, criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbances, political thuggery, unlawful possession of dangerous weapons, and theft of INEC materials among others.
The command indicated that exhibits recovered from the suspects included: 39 permanent and temporary voter cards, 99,466 pieces of tamper evident envelopes for used ballot papers, 100 pieces of INEC observers jackets and a pair of army trouser.
Also recovered from the suspects were five ballot boxes, INEC bags containing result sheets and ballot papers, two smart card readers, result sheets and result booklets, as well as 165 torn ballot papers.
Others were: 23 vehicles, 19 cutlasses, two security belt, three black boots, four black jackets, four electric shockers, four knives, two horns, six heavy sticks, four catapult and some charms among others.
According to the command, the 172 suspects will be charged to court after full investigation.
