Tekno parts ways with MMMG, sets up New Record Label, Cartel
Singer Augustine Miles Kelechi, widely known as Tekno, is expected to be making recovery from a temporarily damaged vocal box which he suffered in 2018.
The condition prevented the artiste from performing at events during the festive season.
His management in a statement said Tekno “tried to downplay the severity of his ailment hoping it will be short-lived, but after further diagnoses, doctors have advised that he takes time out to fully recover.”
But, as fans wait in anticipation for Tekno, it appears the ‘Pana’ singer would not be making a return under the same label he was signed to as he has subtly revealed he's parted ways with MMMG, a record label owned by Ubi Franklin.
Tekno in a post on Instagram announced he is the Chief Executive Officer of a new record label which will be known as, Cartel.
Sharing a logo of the new label, he simply wrote: "CEO" - leaving many to wonder whether he actually owns the company or it’s only a promo he is doing.
Tekno was signed to MMMG in 2013 and after 5 years, he seems to have learnt quite a lot about artiste management and has decided to move on to be his own boss.
He, however, did not state reasons for his decision to leave.
The singer joined the likes of Reekado Banks who left Mavin Records in 2018 to start ‘Banks Music’ and YCEE who confirmed in Tweet on Monday he’s currently a ‘free agent’.
