Singer Esegine Allen, better known as Orezi has come under intense fire on social media for doing the unthinkable to promote his new song.
The 32-year-old incurred the wrath of Nigerians after he shared a photograph which saw him with a lighter as he set a N1000 bill on fire – a legal tender note many would have to toil for months or even more to earn.
His caption read: "Born Broke Die Rich".

Orezi’s post has attracted backlash from a section the public who have described the posture as childish and unacceptable.
Not only that. Many who reacted to the post hurled insults at him for what they describe as disrespect to the land and the currency.
While some have questioned the objective behind the move and begged him to give away the money to the needy rather than set it ablaze, others saw it as a creative work of art that needed to be lauded and entreated him to burn as many notes as he can in subsequent photos.
The picture has since been used as the cover art of his new single.
It also turns out the caption he attached to the post is the same as the title of the new single which is currently circulating on the airwaves.
