Mavin Records is in Challenges but not DEAD - Don Jazzy
Contrary to speculations his record label has collapsed, CEO of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy, says the company which was founded in 2012 is currently challenged but not dead and will soon bounce back stronger.
His remark was in direct response to fans as regards why little has been heard of artistes on the label for quite some time now, while others seem to be walking out leaving only learners at the record label.
‘Mr Jazzy, is mavin dead or Buhari's change has hit your label?” a tweep asked. “This one your top artistes are leaving, leaving behind the learner's and the upcoming?”
Replying to the tweep on Monday, the 36-year-old record producer, singer, songwriter and entrepreneur subtly confirmed his record label is indeed ‘dead’ and needed prayers to revive.
He wrote: “Naaa we never die. We just faint small. E Dey happen. Pray for us to recover if you can.”
The conversation about the state of Mavin Records, also known as the Supreme Mavin Dynasty, was sparked by fans following the apparent disappearance of almost all the label’s act who were signed some six years ago.
The Nigerian-based record label is home to recording artists such as Tiwa Savage, Korede Bello, Dr SID, D'Prince, Di'Ja, Reekado Banks, Johnny Drille, Poe, DNA Twins and Mhizta Xuttan.
However, it does appear only Tiwa Savage and perhaps, Reekado Banks, who recently left the label to start his ‘Banks Music’, were the only acts who steered the wheel of the label throughout the year 2018.

Now, the questions on the lips of persons who are concerned about the once chart-topping label are only two.
'Where are the rest of the artistes signed onto Mavin Records?' and secondly, why are artistes leaving the label?
In response, Don Jazzy admitted without equivocation that his camp had failed to satisfy the high expectations of their fans, but he has assured that 2019 will be better than the previous years as his team is working on some great ideas from this year on.
He also encouraged constructive criticisms from fans who have the record label at heart and cannot wait to see the second coming of the entire Mavin crew.
