UI school confirms receipt of court summons over Hijab controversy
Authorities of the University of Ibadan International School on Tuesday confirmed receipt of court summons over alleged violation of right of some female Muslim students of the school to use Hijab.
DAILY POST recalls that the school had in the last one month, been engulfed with crisis due to the insistence of some Muslim parents that the use of Hijab is a fundamental human right of their female children.
The decision to ban the use of Hijab and persistence of the parents and their female children later led to closure of the school for one week last month.
The Muslim parents on behalf of their wards, however, on Monday dragged the school and its Principal before an Oyo State High Court for violation of the right of the female Muslim students.
Also joined in the suit No. M/706/2018 are the University of Ibadan, owner of the school and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the school, Professor Yinka Aderinto who doubles as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) of the university.
