Scavenger jailed for stealing generator alternator from ECWA church

 
An Iyaganku Magistrates’ court sitting in Ibadan on Wednesday sentenced a scavenger, Lateef Mojeed, 26, to three months in prison for stealing a generator alternator from ECWA Church premises in Ibadan.

Magistrate Olajumoke Akande sentenced Mojeed after he pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiracy, breaking and entering.

” Although the convict pleaded for leniency, the court will still sentence him to three months imprisonment, with an option to pay N6,000 fine on each count of conspiracy, breaking and entering” said Akande

During arraignment, the Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Olalekan Adegbite told the court that Mojeed with one other, now at large conspired and stole the alternator,valued at N95,000.

The offence, he said. was reported to the police by the complainant, Rev. Ali Kar at about 7.25 a.m. at Eleyele Police station, Ibadan

Adegbite said the offence contravened Section 390 (9), 415 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol.II Laws of Oyo state,2000.
